This necklace is said to have been given to “the expedition
of Mr Solioz” by the “Sultan of Tadjourah”. A Swiss engineer, Victor Solioz worked on the construction of railways in different German colonies. In parallel, he and his wife built up large ethnographic collections. Marie Solioz managed its administration and looked after commercial relations with museums in Switzerland. M. Berazategui/MEG
