The provenance of these two sculptures was virtually unknown to the Ethnography Museum when they entered its collections in 1915. Later studies attributed them, with no certainty, to Khmer Buddhist statuary. On their arrival at the museum, these two pieces were nonetheless immediately exhibited without any serious scientific information and also lent to the exhibition
