Possibly produced by the Igun Eronmwon, the Royal Bronze-casting Guild in Benin City; unlikely to have been looted in 1897; collection of the dealer Ernst Ascher (1888-1953), then of the gallery “À la reine Margot” in Paris, where it was bought by the Geneva Ethnography Museum in July 1950
