The Forest, the Temple of the Kota
The Kota are peoples of the Congo and Gabon. Their spirituality is connected to the forest where the temples are erected. Ritual objects are taken from there: bark, creepers, birds’ feathers, animal skins, water. Constantly in search of social and ecological harmony, the Kota peoples possess sound ethno-botanical knowledge. The anarchic exploitation of the forest represents a real threat for this symbolic space defining their identity and without which the Kota would lose their points of reference. J.-D. Ekori and J.
