In Geneva, many demonstrations in support and defence of Indigenous Peoples’ rights have taken place since the beginning of the 20th century. In 1992, the Indigenous Peoples of Geneva Collective (PIG) organized a two-week cultural event on Plainpalais plain to celebrate 500 years of Indigenous resistance in the Americas, in reaction to the “discovery” of America by Christopher Colombus celebrated that year all over the world. Posters and T-shirts were made for the occasion as well as a guest book testifying to the large number of people who took part. S. Petrella
