The Genevan stay of the Indigenous delegates who had come to defend the rights of their peoples was made possible thanks to the solidarity network organized among Geneva’s inhabitants. Between the 1980s and 1990s, squats played a central role in the reception of Indigenous Peoples in Geneva, like the Îlot 13 or Rhino, which in particular provided accommodation for Indigenous delegates from the Americas – Navajos, Shuars, Hopis –, from India and from all over the world. Many private individuals continue to put up delegates from elsewhere. S. Petrella
