Genève, les Bergues : indienneries Fazy
Jean DuBois (1789-1849)

Making indiennes called for large buildings, hanging out space, plentiful water and a large number of both female and male workers with various qualifications. First located at the Fusterie and Plainpalais, the factories were subsequently nearer the Rhone and the lake, as in Bergues, Pâquis and Eaux-Vives.
In the mid 1780s, about 20% of the active Genevan population were working in ten or so indiennes printing factories.
