Deskaheh brought three items with him to Geneva: a wampum representing the Covenant Chain, the Two Row Wampum, and a silver peace pipe. The Covenant Chain connects the ship and the canoe of the Two Row Wampum; should either party require assistance, they could shake the chain, signalling the other to come to their aid. This chain is frequently referred to as a silver chain, symbolizing the importance of continually “polishing” or nurturing our treaty relationships. H. George
