This Genevan public museum saw the day thanks to the interest of scientific patricians for the natural sciences, archeology, local history and the "statistics of uncivilized peoples". It is under this label, announcing ethnography, that the objects from all over the world given by the friends of the Academy and inherited from the cabinet of curiosities part of the Library were inventoried.
