This small bag was inventoried in the catalogue of the Academic Museum of Geneva on 6 May 1824 as a “bag for Canadians’ gunpowder”. Given by professor Marc-Auguste Pictet, it is not known how it came to be in his possession. The cultural belongings of North American Indigenous peoples circulated among European collections in the 18th century and so entered Genevan museum collections. F. Morin/MEG
